How Three Successful People Overcame Challenges

No problem is a dead-end

Success stories of individuals who accomplished great things and stamped their footprint permanently on the world are sources of motivation for us. However, some of the adversities they faced in the pursuit of their goals are often expunged from these stories or given just a modicum of attention.

But diving a little deeper into their challenges can help renew our strength when we hit brick walls. Let’s dive deep into how three exceptional individuals surmounted adversity and achieve success.

Oprah narrated the circumstances that surrounded her childhood years and how it motivated her to aspire for success.

Growing up in Mississippi in the ’60s, and with a black skin automatically limited your opportunities.

In Oprah’s words “You could either become a teacher in a segregated school, work as a maid, dishwasher, a cook or a servant. But, I never considered that as a path carved out for me.

On an occasion, while helping her grandmother with some household chores, the old lady asked her to pay attention to how she was doing some laundry, because she’s going to be supporting herself financially someday with such a skill.

And she said “A still, small voice inside me, really more a feeling than a voice, said, “This will not be your life. Your life will be more than hanging clothes on a line.” Clearly, at an early age, she already had a strong conviction.

With the harsh reality back then, her future seemed cemented in drudgery.

She, however, remained undaunted in her pursuit of a more dignifying and excellent future. With this mindset coupled with a fantastic work ethic, she rose to become the most successful woman in media and the wealthiest black woman on earth.

This shows the power of conviction and not settling for crumbs when you have the potential of owning a bread factory.
