Microsoft Transforms Word Documents Into PowerPoint Presentations Using AI

Office Insiders can try out the Transform command now, but all Word for the web users get the feature soon.

The Transform tool is even more intelligent than that: If you have a Word document consisting mainly of text, Transform will add assets to it by relying on Microsoft’s AI to select what works best. It will also offer a number of available PowerPoint themes.

To test it, users must be signed up as an Office Insider and using Word for the web. Open any Word document, and click File > Transform > Transform to PowerPoint presentation. Choose from one of the design themes that pop up, then click “Open presentation.” The newly-created presentation will load in PowerPoint for the web and be saved in the OneDrive root folder. It can then be treated like any other PowerPoint file and tweaked or added to if necessary.
